SightAI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the SightAI mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information to provide and improve our services:

• Photos: Images you capture within the app for landmark recognition. These are uploaded to our server for AI analysis and stored in your journal.
• Account information: If you sign in with Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo.
• Device identifier: A unique device ID used to associate your scans with your session, including when using the app as a guest.
• Location data: With your permission, we use your GPS coordinates to improve landmark identification accuracy and show nearby places. Background location is used to detect when you are near a previously saved landmark and send you a local proximity notification. Location data is processed on-device and is never sent to our servers.
• Usage data: Landmark scan history, saved journal entries, and lifetime scan count (used to enforce free plan limits).
• Purchase information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, your Google Play purchase token is stored on our servers to verify and manage your subscription status. We do not store payment card details.
• Push notification token: If you grant notification permission, your OneSignal push subscription ID is stored to enable push notifications from SightAI.
• Crash and diagnostic data: Anonymous crash reports are collected automatically via Firebase Crashlytics to help us identify and fix bugs.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To analyze photos and identify landmarks using AI
• To display your scan history and travel journal
• To provide personalized nearby landmark suggestions
• To send you memory notifications (e.g. landmarks scanned one year ago today)
• To send proximity notifications when you are near a saved landmark
• To enforce plan limits (daily scans, lifetime scan cap, journal size)
• To verify and manage in-app subscription purchases via Google Play
• To improve the accuracy and performance of our service
• To diagnose crashes and technical issues via anonymous crash reports

3. Background Location

With your explicit permission, SightAI uses background location to detect when you are physically near a landmark you have previously saved. This triggers a local notification on your device. Background location data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to our servers. You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

4. Notifications

SightAI may send you the following types of notifications:

• Memory notifications: A daily reminder showing a landmark you scanned exactly one year ago.
• Proximity notifications: An alert when you are physically near a landmark you have saved in your journal.
• Push notifications: Occasional updates or announcements sent via OneSignal.

You can disable notifications at any time from your device settings.

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers. Photos are retained to enable you to revisit your landmark history. You may delete individual landmarks or your entire account and associated data at any time from within the app.

6. Third-Party Services

SightAI uses the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini API: For AI-powered landmark analysis. Images are sent to Google's servers for processing.
• Google Sign-In: For optional account authentication.
• Google Maps: For displaying nearby landmarks and navigation.
• Google Play Billing: For processing in-app subscription purchases.
• Firebase Crashlytics: For anonymous crash reporting and app stability monitoring.
• OneSignal: For delivering push notifications to your device.
• Wikipedia: For fetching publicly available landmark thumbnail images displayed within the app.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. Data is shared with the above services solely to provide app functionality.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Use the app as a guest without creating an account
• Revoke location or notification permissions at any time via your device settings

9. Children's Privacy

SightAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
